I am directed by His Excellency, the Officer Administering the Government, to request you to be good enough to inform Dr. Wharey, with reference to his letter of yesterday, that the proposal made by this Government was that he should get the four years for professional qualification referred to in a draft Pension Minute now under consideration, but that as that minute is not yet in force, the Secretary of State appears to have confined himself to the regulations laid down in the existing Pension Minutes.

As regards the other points in Dr. Wharey's letter, I am to add that His Excellency sees no reason for re-opening the question.
